Union
Right of Entry
The
CFMEU FFTS Division are targeting GGAV members intensively at the
current time in an endeavour to sign up as many members as possible and
to have their union included as a partner to collective agreements
This is expected to continue with increased vigour leading up to the
next stage of the introduction of the Fair Work Act and when Award
Modernisation effect on 1 January 2010.
Do not be swayed by the misinformation the organiser may tell you.
Below
is outline of the section of the FWA. Ring Don Blanksby on 03 9536
3118 if you wish clarification on any point or if you receive a letter
from the union regarding entry to your premises.
What are the rights under the Fair Work Act; A
union permit holder may enter premises to:

Investigate
a suspected contravention of the Act, or a matter that affects the
permit holder's organisation
-
A
person whose
industrial interests the organisation is entitled to represent, and
who performs work on the premises
-
The
permit holder must present themselves to the office and cannot enter
the premises until they have complied with this requirement

May
talk to and interview employees who agree to be interviewed, and who
they are entitled to represent
-
They
may only request to inspect the records of employees who they have as
members only, if it is relevant to any suspected breach
Where
they can conduct interviews
-
The
must comply with the area designated by the employer this can be a
lunch room etc, and the routes that can be taken to such place, or
an area such as a car park. Any such area should be suitable
for them to meet with employees

and expected to take effect from 1 February 2010

Glass Industry Capability Survey
The
GGAV are in the process of Updating the website www.ggav.org.au
to allow other members and the public to find which member can satisfy
their requirements. Much time is spent advising the public on the closest glazier to them
and also what their capabilities are. To assist this process the
following action is to take place:

If
you have not yet completed the survey as to the type of work carried out by
your company please do so now. CLICK HERE FOR SURVEY

Following
compilation of the survey it will be available on line with the
opportunity to have your fields of expertise highlighted through a
search facility and the ability to showcase your work.

The GGAV Industrial Relations Committee recommended increases of 2% to
existing rates each year when negotiating Collective Bargaining
Agreements. Many members have reached agreement with their
employees with these or similar rates.
